Fritz family · 1846–47

Nine months in New Braunfels

Four recorded deaths, two survivors, and the eight-year-old from whom this tree's Fritz branch continues.

The recorded sequence

Jacob Fritz and Margaretha Bartschen came from Hessen with their children. The family tree records Margaretha and four-year-old Johann dying in New Braunfels in July 1846. On 18 March 1847, it records Jacob and six-year-old Elisabeth dying there on the same day.

The branch that continued

Casper Fritz was eight. He survived, later lived in Fredericksburg, and died in 1911. The Fritz descendants represented in this tree continue through him.

What the record cannot say

The dates overlap the disease and hardship experienced by Adelsverein immigrants in 1845–46, but this tree does not record a cause of death. That history is context—not a conclusion about this family.
